BRIEF DESCRIPTION :

Valve line stage preamplifier

DESCRIPTION :

DPL2   This preamplifier matches black with gold : the restrained lines of the case in black openwork metal, its front plate in polished aluminium, or as an option, in gilded brass as on the JPL.

Sombre and luminous, mat and brilliant, the DPL 2 combines visual harmony with an insistant discretion.

The signal processing is carried out by 2 double triode tubes, ECC82
and ECC 83, which assure the necessary gain in voltage. Their classic
configuration, called cathode follower, allows a high level of input
impedance to be obtained, as well as a very low output impedance and an
important increase in current. By these means, the DPL 2 is adaptable
to all types of amplifiers, whatever their input impedance or the
length of their connecting cables. It can process six high level
sources (CD, tuner, three auxiliaries and a tape input-output) with
great sensitivity (140 mV for a level of 2 V).

We wished to have the DPL 2 as part of a range of products with prices
lower than those usually associated with our products. We therefore
decided to produce a printed circuit to receive the power supply and
the filtering, and to keep hand-wiring for the source-switching part,
which appears as a rotative double selector, one for volume , the other
for balance.

The power supply has a single transformer with two outputs. After the
unit has been turned on, a small relay circuit assures a calculated
output delay.

All the components of this unit have been carefully selected to
assure that the best possible balance is achieved, following the
objective that we had set oursevles of producing a high-quality unit
for a reasonable price.

The performance of the DPL 2 has most often been tested in relation
with the DA 5 amplifier, which we mention in the following pages.
However, its performance has also been much appreciated when the
DPL 2 was used with the Monotriode 300B power block.
